Covid - 19 Operational Plan

For Occupancy of 50 or Less (Yellow)

    MESSAGE FOR OUR MEMBERS

The Capital Winter Club Staff & Board of Directors over the past few months have worked to ensure that our facility is meeting all Physical Distancing guidelines.  We have sanitized the building from top to bottom and our staff have been directed to clean surfaces after each area is vacated by an individual or group.

We have been working with the Province of New Brunswick Sports Tourism Branch, Department of Public Health, Curling Canada and Work Safe New Brunswick to ensure we have covered every area of concern.

NOW, WE NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE TO HELP STOP THE SPREAD OF GERMS & BACTERIA!!

Wipes and sanitizer are placed in the ice shed at the end of each sheet.  We will be cleaning the rocks after each draw but you can always clean your own rocks if that makes you feel more comfortable.

We also ask that each curler use hand sanitizer before the game starts and that we continue to extend “Best Wishes” and “Well Played Game” to your opposition in a verbal (non-contact) method.

These measures will be enforced for the safety of all curlers and patrons of the Capital Winter Club.

CWC OPERATIONAL PLAN & RISK ASSESSMENT

Before the Capital Winter Club reopens the Lounge and Playing Area (Ice Shed), our COVID -19 reopen protocols will be sent to facility users.   COVID-19 Awareness signage will be placed at the entrance and throughout the building, Pre-Screening questions will be asked of patrons and Physical Distancing will be executed with chairs marked out with tape as non-seating areas and by following our return to play guidelines.  Cleaning and Disinfection Procedures have been created and staff will facilitate this cleaning.  Personal hygiene protocols with educational signage and videos as well as non-touch machines (when available) will be utilized.

A copy of our COVID-19 Operational Plan and Risk Assessment will be sent to all members and will be posted in the Lounge for review.

Please see below how these measures will be implemented.

    STAFF & GENERAL OPERATIONS

No staff will be able to work a shift if they show any symptoms of COVID-19.   When Staff arrive they will wash their hands before entering the bar area and will always be required to wear a protective mask.

We ask that all Members, if possible, use electronic methods of payment.   When not possible and cash payments are made, staff will hand sanitize after each transaction. If tap is not used staff will sanitize the debit machine.

Only one staff member will be working behind the bar at any given time and that member will also need to continually clean the serving surfaces so we will be asking all members to exhibit patience.

All staff will review the operational plan at a staff meeting prior to opening as well as all Occupational Health and Safety and Work Safe guidelines.

    COVID-19 AWARENESS (SIGNAGE)

Signage will be posted (GNB signage) on proper hand hygiene, respiratory hygiene, and physical distancing throughout the facility.  The following posters from the GNB website will be posted.

    Self Monitoring Poster
    Hand Washing Poster
    Hand Sanitizer Poster
Protect Yourself and Others from Getting Sick Poster
    Physical Distancing Poster

    PRE-SCREENING TOOL

Notification will be sent to all patrons and staff who are either symptomatic and/or have been advised by Public Health to self-isolate and should remain home and not enter the premises.   All staff will be pre-screened before the beginning of each shift.

    PHYSICAL DISTANCING

A return to play plan is being created for all of the activities played on our playing surfaces. Our lounge area seats will be taped off to ensure Physical Distancing and marks will be taped on the floor to ensure Physical Distancing at the cash.

Patrons will be reminded that they may partake in their activity while maintaining a minimum of two metres or six feet between themselves and others at all times (with the exception of members of the same household or ‘bubble’).

A designated staff member will monitor all guidelines and ensure patrons are adhering to Physical Distancing requirements while on the premises.

    CLEANING & DISINFECTION PROCEDURES

All common areas will be cleaned and disinfected at a minimum of twice daily.  In addition, tables, chairs and common surface will be disinfected as patrons leave.

    FACILITATING PERSONAL HYGIENE ETIQUETTE

The CWC will ensure that all products needed to help our patrons practice proper Personal Hygiene will be made available. We are presently ordering all non-touch products for our common areas and a bottle of hand sanitizer will be available on each table in the lounge.

We also have strict guidelines in our return to play guidelines for patrons to follow regarding Personal Hygiene.

    PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT

Personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face masks and gloves will be supplied for staff members before each shift.  We will also have PPE requirements in our return to play guidelines and they will be strictly enforced by our staff.

RETURN TO PLAY: MOVEMENT INSIDE THE CAPITAL WINTER CLUB

Curling Canada is developing a return to play program so all clubs will be able to use this as a guideline to get recreational curling restarted in a safe manner.

In addition to this plan, the Capital Winter Club will be implementing the following procedure to ensure proper Physical Distancing while playing and partaking in a customary beverage when play is completed.

Entering the building and exiting the building

All members will enter the building through the front door.

Locker rooms will not be open as we cannot ensure proper Physical Distancing in those rooms.

5:30 Draw:  The 5:30 draw will proceed into the Lounge and can change their shoes there.  All curlers will enter the ice shed through the door near the back entrance.  When your games are done you will exit the ice shed through the door closest to the front entrance and proceed into the Lounge to change your footwear and have a customary beverage if desired.

7:30 Draw:  The 7:30 draw will enter the building through the front door and proceed upstairs to the banquet hall.   All curlers can change their shoes there and when the ice is ready, curlers will enter the ice shed through the door near the back entrance.  When your games are done you will exit the ice shed through the door closest to the front entrance and proceed into the Lounge. You may only retrieve your footwear from the Banquet Hall once the 9:30 draw is on the ice.

9:30 Draw:  The 9:30 draw will enter the building through the front door and proceed upstairs to the banquet hall.   All curlers can change their shoes there and when the ice is ready, curlers will enter the ice shed through the door near the back entrance.  When your games are done you will exit the ice shed through the door closest to the front entrance and retrieve your footwear from the Banquet Hall and then proceed into the Lounge if desired.

Lounge:  Changes to the lounge will be made to ensure proper Physical Distancing is enforced.   Two tables for each sheet will be placed together and a marked area will be set up for proper Physical Distancing at the bar.

Washrooms:  We ask that if you need to use the washroom while curling you use the washrooms in the lounge and you adhere to the Enter/Exit doors (Exit using the door closest to the front entrance and Enter using the door by the back entrance).

Club brooms and sliders:  If you use a club broom and slider you will need to rent them out for the season.

Scoring:  Scoring will be done on score cards and we ask that you turn you cards into the bartender after each game.   We will be working on other processes over the next few months to find a way to post scores for spectators in a sanitary fashion.
