Covid - 19 Risk Management

     ACTION RESOURCE PROVIDED  IMPLEMENTATION HOW COMMUNICATED STATUS
    RISK ASSESSMENT        
    Complete a risk assessment to determine the engineering, administrative controls and/or PPE controls necessary to mitigate the risk of COVID-19 exposure at the Capital Winter Club. Risk Assessment Guideline Health Canada  

    Manager and Executive will meet and execute the creation of Assessment following and Guild lines put in place by the Federal & Provincial Governments and well as Work Safe NB. 

     

    Board Members will be notified of preparation of the document for approval at the May Board Meeting and then the existence of the document will be communicated to the staff and patrons through email. A copy will be in the lounge for viewing upon request.

    PHYSICAL DISTANCING        
    Implement two meter physical distancing protocol for Capital Winter Club Physical Distancing  

    Ice Shed, Lounge and Hall will all be marked with two meter markers for customer guidance.

     

    Signage will be placed at the entry and notification will go out to members and potential renters.

     
    Implementation for employees   Only one staff members will be permitted to work behind out cash area. Another support staff will remain out of that area for support and COVID protocol facilitation. Staff meeting will be held before we return to work and by weekly updates sent to staff.

    Arrange furniture to promote two meter rule    

    Seating will be marked to ensure physical distancing and furniture will be rearranged to make sure seating is not within two meters of each other.

    Provide visual cues for visitors and customers to follow

    Establish a protocol to ensure people don’t congregate in groups.

     

    All three floors of the Capital Winter Club will be used to ensure proper flow of customers and to make sure there is ample room to space out. Markers on the floor and furniture will be strategically placed to remove any possibility of congregation.

    Evaluate the risk of employees coming closer than two metres in all parts of the facility.

    Stairwells, entry and exit points and narrow hallways can present a challenge. Consider implementing one-way traffic zones where possible (one stairwell for walking up, a different one for walking down).

      One stairwell will be for travelling up stairs and another will be for travelling down. This will create one way traffic areas. All will be marked. Signage will be placed at the entry and notification will go out to members and potential renters.  
    HAND AND RESPIRATORY HYGIENE        
    Promote frequent handwashing    

    Signage will be placed at the entry and notification will go out to members and potential renters.

     
    Have handwash stations readily available and equipped with running hot/cold water and adequate soap and paper towel. Handwashing Poster   Signage will be placed around the club.  
    Have minimum 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer readily available. Hand Sanitizer Poster Sanitizers are placed in the ice shed and on each table in the lounge. Signage will be placed around the club.  
    Communicate frequently about good respiratory hygiene/cough etiquette. Protect yourself and others   Signage will be placed around the club. A small video with proper etiquette will also play on our monitors  
    Evaluate the workplace for shared objects and common areas and increased frequency of cleaning of touched surfaces/objects (minimum twice daily). Disinfection and Cleaning  All common areas in our Lounge will be cleaned after each customer leaves. The playing area will have disinfectant wipes at the end of curling sheet so rocks can be cleaned and so pickleballs can be wiped down. Washrooms will be wiped down hourly. Customers will see this effort and this will be communicated to members and customers.  
    SCREENING & MONITORING        
    Determine if your workplace must implement a passive or active screening process. Screening tool Presently we will implement a passive screening process but we have ordered materials to implement an active process for flu season and if a second wave is to begin. Signage will be placed at the door and members will be asked questions upon entry.  
    Prepare for the possibility that an employee tests positive for COVID-19 and may have been in the workplace. Inform your employees of the procedures to be followed WorkSafeNB FAQ      
    RECEIVING PAYMENTS        
    Use electronic payment devices (if possible). We encourage you to use the tap option or clean devices after each use.   All Customers will be asked to use tap when possible This will be communicated by email to our customers and signage will be displayed.  

    If you must handle money, ensure regular handwashing and have minimum 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer readily available.

      Hand sanitizer will be placed beside the cash in case money exchanges hands between a customer and staff. This will be communicated by email to our customers and signage will be displayed.  
    CLEANING & DISINFECTION        
    Ensure availability of all necessary supplies for cleaning and disinfecting.   All supplies have been purchased and are on hand for staff.

    Staff meeting will be held before we return to work and weekly updates sent to staff.

     
    WASHROOMS        
    Equip with hot and cold running water under pressure, liquid soap, paper towel, toilet paper and garbage containers where possible   Staff will monitor to make sure no materials run low or out. Staff meeting will be held before we return to work and by weekly updates sent to staff.

    If multiple stalls and sinks are provided in washrooms, consider whether you need to limit access through maximum numbers allowed in the space at one time.     Signage will be posted on our men's washroom door.  
    BROOMS & SLIDERS        
    If sporting equipment is multi use, ensure proper care and cleaning of the device.   Members will have to rent club brooms and sliders for the season.

    This will be outlined in communications with members and on membership sign up sheets.

     
    RENTAL EQUIPMENT        
    If sporting equipment is multi use, ensure proper care and cleaning of the device.   All rentals will need to rent equipment and names will be placed on the equipment with tape. Similar to a bowling alley each memebr of a rental will need to come and get their equipment and they will be labled. All rentel aggrements will have this in it and also explain that you should come early.  
    SCORING        
    If sporting equipment is multi use, ensure proper care and cleaning of the device.  

    Curlers will be asked to fill out scorecards and return them to the bar for posting. No members are to record their own scores. Electronic means of updating will be used whenever possible.

    OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & SAFETY ACT & REGULATION REQUIREMENTS        

    Communicate to employees and supervisors their responsibilities under the OHS Act and regulations.

    Provide employee orientation, information and training on the new policies and processes implemented regarding COVID-19. Employee Orientation      

    Provide employee training on the work refusal process.

           

    Ensure supervisors are knowledgeable of guidelines and processes established by Public Health.

           

    Ensure all employees receive information, instruction and training on the personal protective equipment required to protect against Covid-19.

           

    Implement a disciplinary process for correction of employee violations of company policies and procedures.

           

    Provide competent and sufficient supervision to ensure employees are complying with policies, procedures and processes established.

    Supervision      
    Consult on any new policies and processes established in relation to COVID-19 (JHSC or health and safety representative, if any, or employees). OHS Guide-JHSC      

    Provide, maintain and make available personal protective equipment.

           

    Keep records of visitor and employee log (with confirmation those individuals were actually screened), as well as orientation, training and inspections.

           

    Communicate to all staff the requirement to co-operate with Public Health if there is a suspected or confirmed case of COVID-19 in the workplace. Public Health will advise the employee and/or the employer if there is a need to communicate with the employer or workforce during contact tracing. If the employer is advised of a positive case, they must then report it to WorkSafe NB.
