Taking place at CWC on November 24th & 25th, the 2nd Annual CWC Youth Development Camp will be hosted by our very own Wayne Tallon and special guest 2010 Olympic Gold Medalist Mark Kennedy.  Cost for this 2-day session is $150.00/per person.

Saturday

9:00am: Registration

9:30am: Intros and warmup

10:00am:  Games (2 ends). These 2 end games are an easy way to get the kids engaged and thinking curling, but more importantly they give Marc and the other instructors an idea of what level the curlers are working at and where the most improvement is required. 

10:45-12:00pm: Setup and slide. We will cover the fundamentals as a group and then have the kids spread out across the sheets and practice these fundamentals.

12:00-1:00pm:  Lunch

1:00pm - 2:30pm:  Drive and release  More skills through demonstration, and then the kids can practice the skills. We spend a few minutes in this section focusing on throwing the rock harder

2:30pm - 3:30pm:  Sweeping  Technique as well as sweeping communication will be discussed in this section

3:30pm-4:00pm:  Snack/Break

4:00pm - 5:00pm:  Strategy and Tactics  This discussion would happen off ice. The main focus would be on the 5 rock rule and how that will change things 

6:00pm - 9:00pm: CWC Gala Dinner Featuring Marc Kennedy as Key Note Speaker

 

Sunday

9:00am - 11:00am:  Warmup and practice drills:  Curlers can practice the new skills they have learned and we can introduce some technical drills that they can take with them

11:00am - 12:00pm:  Final games (4 ends)

12:00pm:   Lunch  Strategy Session & Questions  Curlers can eat and also ask any questions that they might still have
